The Call to Leadership!

Change hovers over Uganda, like clouds pregnant with rain.

With the next general election right around the corner, thunder claps to remind Uganda’s youth that it is time to rise up, and take part in re-shaping their future. As the largest part of the population, we ought to meaningfully participate in the leadership and governance of our nation.

Politics has been viewed by many as a game, and a dirty game at that. Marred with lies and unfulfilled promises, disgruntled young people cast hope aside because every turn of the page is no different from the previous. Our vote is soon forgotten, and our voice silenced as we wallow in the same cycle of unemployment, economic stagnation, and social injustice.

But what if young people had a voice – not just in name, but a platform through which we can participate in the governance of their nation? What if we re-create the future of Uganda?

The reality of the Uganda we desire lies in our resolve to take responsibility for the change we desire! Remember, nothing changes if we don’t change!

Young and Thriving!

The reality of young adulthood is a stack of social-economic challenges that limit young people’s potential for greatness, keeping them locked in never ending impossibilities. Ranging from education and skill gaps, unemployment and underemployment, to sexual reproductive health challenges, and mental health challenges, we are stuck in an elusive fight for a better life! With many of us are barely surviving, our lives are a ticking time bomb, waiting for the worst so we can justify giving up!

That doesn’t have to be our life! Not anymore! We were made to do more than just survive! We were made to thrive!

Young and thriving is a community based program aimed at inspiring, equipping and challenges young people with practical life skills, to enable face the challenges of young adulthood, and rise above societal limitations. Walking together as a community, young people are empowered to take responsibility of their surroundings, and be the change they desire.

It is time for us to say no to the status quo, break out of the survival cycle, and start recreating the future we desire!
